Ok -- so, the ABC Debate last night sucked. Hillary, Charlie and George (Channeling Sean Hannity) were mean to Barack Obama. Enough -- I get it! And, to paraphrase Barack Obama, he expects these kinds of attacks and is prepared to take them on -- It is nothing new and 'fair' within the frame of the 'politics is a contact sport'
How many more Diaries on ABC Sucks? Who knows, but I sincerely hope that they stop soon so that we can look at some of the substance of the Debate. Slight as the substance was, means that the tiny bits of information that did come out of the Debate should get at least some airing.
But, before I get there; I want for all of You Obama supporters to watch the following video during which Obama deals with the "Obama Bin Laden" gaffe.
I think we can all take a breath and a break from all our "outrage" and reflect on how cool Obama deals with this kind of "distraction"
But this isn't what this diary is about.
Today its task is to secure
and expand the "zones of democratic
peace;" to deter the rise of a new greatpower
competitor; defend key regions of
Europe, East Asia and the Middle East; and
to preserve American preeminence
This is from that infamous PNACREBUILDING AMERICA’S DEFENSES Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century -- The NEOCON wet Dream manual
As we have been experiencing some of the fallout of the PNAC's wet dream over the past 7+ years, most of us on this side of the fence can agree that the ideas of these NEOCON freaks should be thrown out in favor of an actual sane policy.
John McCain though is firmly in the NEOCON camp -- In fact he was in the NEOCON camp well before George W Bush even heard of the NEOCON's . McCain was the NEOCON's pick for POTUS in 2000. And John McCain's 100 years of war, and 'there is going to be more war, my friends" is a promise that the NEOCON dream will continue under a McCain administration.
But, OUR SIDE surely has come to their senses and awareness of the dangers of these NEOCON charlatans? Well, not so fast!
CLINTON: Well, in fact, George, I think that we should be looking to create an umbrella of deterrence that goes much further than just Israel. Of course, I would make it clear to the Iranians that an attack on Israel would incur massive retaliation from the United States.
But I would do the same with other countries in the region. ...
And secondly, we've got to deter other countries from feeling they have to acquire nuclear weapons. You can't go to the Saudis or the Kuwaitis or UAE and others who have a legitimate concern about Iran and say, well, don't acquire these weapons to defend yourself unless you're also willing to say we will provide a deterrent backup.
And we will let the Iranians know, that, yes, an attack on Israel would trigger massive retaliation. But so would an attack on those countries that are willing to go under the security umbrella and forswear their own nuclear ambitions. And finally, we cannot permit Iran to become a nuclear weapons power. And this administration has failed in our efforts to convince the rest of the world that that is a danger, not only to us, and not just to Israel but to the region and beyond.
Therefore, we have not to have this process that reaches out beyond even who we would put under the security umbrella, to get the rest of the world on our side to try to impose the kind of sanctions and diplomatic efforts that might prevent this from occurring.
By contrast, Obama's answer to the "Iran Question" was far more measured, and though I personally didn't like his "no option off the table" phrasing, at least his answer didn't have me squirting diarrhea into my shorts like Clinton's did.
Make no mistake. The NEOCON press Corpse (Brooks, Kristol, FoxNoise, et al) will be declaring Hillary Clinton the winner because of her superior understanding of the middle east.
We have a NEOCON in our midst. And should Hillary Clinton become the Democratic Nominee, we will have a choice between 2 brands of the NEOCON dream -- and any worries that You may have of the SCOTUS makeup will be replaced with 100 years of a middle east "Securtiy Umbrella" no matter who the next POTUS is.
So Please, once all of You are finished prostrating Yourselves on how much ABC sucks, can we please focus on some of the substance that came out of the debate?
