So the news is that Joe Scarborough walked off msnbc's new program "Race to the White House" after failing to talk down and silence fellow guest Rachel Maddow who I should add is absolutely superior to him in intelligence, wit and manners. According to HuffPost the panel was discussing the effect of Sen. Obama's personal and professional relationships on his campaign when Rachel and Joe disagreed. Joe started to challenge Rachel's argument that relationships only become an issue when a political opponent makes them an issue, but she cut him off, "Let me make my point and then you can dismiss me." She then finished with an example of a McCain campaign co-chair in Florida's bathroom activities. The article continued that after a commercial break, Joe began whining about not wanting to engage in cross-fire type debates (apparently he was outraged by Maddow's bringing up of the McCain co-chair's involvement in "bathroom activities"). He subsequently removed his microphone and exited the program.
First, let me extend my greatest gratitude to Rachel for holding her ground and refusing to be subordinate to someone like Joe. She is a rising star at msnbc and she should not allow any slow talking, half brain, failed Republican from the panhandle of Florida to put her down. Joe Scarborough has a disgusting record in how he raps with people who offers any kind of serious challenge to his inferior reasoning whether on his own program or as co-guests on another program as it was in this case. He is particularly dismissive of women. He probably lost it after realizing he couldn't 'reign in' Maddow. He always sees the need to over talk and insultingly interrupt other people in this monotonous 'King of The Hill' accent that annoys the hell out of me.
The exchange between him and Rachel was nothing compared to how he treated Katrina Vanden Heuvel from The Nation who was one of the guests at the round table that he was hosting on msnbc's Super Tuesday election night. He would often bypass her to the other guests more often than not to Pat Buchanan and barely allowed her time to complete a sentence before interrupting or switching to someone else. He was even worse when he used to host his own prime time program "Scarborough Country" on msnbc which he proudly used as a platform for Republican talking points and would often bully or silence liberals who sometimes appeared on his show. Luckily Americans were not as interested in this southern retard so his ratings plummeted faster than Bush's approval rating and his show was canned from the prime time lineup. We now know that he co-hosts his own morning program "Morning Joe" on msnbc with another female, Mika who he has by and large managed to subject to his authority. His spat with Rachel tells more about his state of mind than anything else. Like many right wing lunatics, he is struggling to make do in a new Democratic America (he tried adopting some progressive talking points but you know that's not where his heart is). He is desperate to regain the limelight at msnbc which is a fast growing cable network.
Right wing blowhards realize they don't run the show anymore and they are frustrated as hell. Limbaugh tried to derail 100 year McCain's campaign and he fell flat on his face, Billo tried to get our hero Keith Olbermann fired and disgrace NBC but he ended up eating his own shit, Sean Hannity put up a big fight over the Rev. Wright issue, believing it could end Obama's revolutionary campaign but he failed miserably and Obama has only gained from the experience. So we can put this into context and see why Joe is behaving the way he is. He is suffering somewhat from an inferiority complex. He realizes that he is becoming increasingly irrelevant, Americans no longer look to dumb people like him for guidance or political analysis. He saw his good buddy Tucker lose his show and he believes that we are all out to get him. He is probably saying in his mind, how dare msnbc elevate this girl from of all places Air America radio on the same level as me. This would have been unimaginable in his heyday. He saw Rachel substituting for Keith on Countdown and he is brimming with envy. Bill O'Rapist (O'Reilly) over at fox noise is even more envious, he is fuming because he remembers when msnbc was a 'fine' right wing network when people like Joe, Tucker, Monica Crowley and Tweety (yes Chris Matthews because it's not too long ago when he was totally sold out to the right) used to set the agenda.
Rachel Maddow along with Keith Olbermann, John Stewart (I don't know if I should include Stephen Colbert), Bill Maher, Air America radio and the netroots are pioneers laying the ground work for this new Democratic revolution which is sweeping across The United States of America. The old guard of the right wing and the likes of the DLC that have overshadowed our politics for so long are finding it hard to cope. They don't know what to make of 'we' that's why they are pushing so hard against Obama (I have to confess, I was once a staunch Hillary supporter but I've now seen the light). What happened between Rachel and Joe may just be a minor incident but I think its a prototype of the greater battle which is going on in America today. It signals a changing of the guard and a dawning of a new progressive era.
