For Obama supporters...
I've recently concluded that we could expand our reach if we could show those not online some of what we can see on the inter-tubes. To that end, I spent some time over the last week or so making a DVD, consisting of video pulled from the Obama campaign website.
My goal is to have something that can be given to anyone with a DVD player who might be convinced to vote for him in an upcoming primary state.
How I hope others can help and what's on the disc below the fold...
Here's the contents:
Speeches: A More Perfect Union, The Cost of War, and 5 mins of the NH primary (Yes We Can).
Issues: Healthcare, Job Retraining, Mortgage Crisis, Education, Veterans, and the Environment (~5 minutes of each)
Misc: "Yes We Can" Video, A Guide to Lobbyists (web ad), and the girl from the 3am ads responding.
I've burned this only on ordinary blank dvd media (about 10 cents a piece). It should play on most ordinary dvd players, and any computer that can play dvd's too.
The video quality is far from stellar (hey, it's from the website), but it's definitely watchable.
I think this will allow us to reach people who might be open to considering Obama, but how to find and reach them? That's where you could help.
Do you have the ability to duplicate DVD's? This isn't copy-protected stuff we're talking about, so any replication software with a burner should work. We'd need to set up a tree, where I'd send a copy to one person, and they'd make a bunch of duplicates and either send them on to others who would also duplicate them or get them to supporters and volunteers for the campaign. If you're like me, you have friends or family that could use some convincing; the idea is that this would help make the case.
I dropped off a handful at the local office (300 W Adams, in Chicago) today, but that's really a phonebanking location, and they weren't sure what exactly to do (but promised to try and get them to higher-ups). So this could run inside the campaign, but it might actually work better (more agile) from the outside, or at least in tandem. I'm hoping this could have some benefit in time for all the post-Penn states.
