It's gotten to the point that I hate the news. All news - local, national, international, whatever. But mostly I really hate politics "news".
I'm sick of talking head morons like Scarborough, Ford, Tweety and Buchanan. I'm tired of these asses telling me I have more Rev. Wright, "bitter", "close the deal", "Michigan and Florida" and all that crap to look forward to until the end of this protracted primary season.
So far, the only person I've seen even attempt to hold anyone to account is Olbermann, and even that was wasted. An hour would not have been long enough, with all the obfuscation Hillary was bound to try and pull.
The media refuses to focus on anything of importance, as clearly evidence by the last "debate". I'm with Keith - I care about telecom immunity, FISA, the price of gas. I care about the "obliteration" comments that she made, which have been pretty much ignored by the media all day today. I care that she lies, and her husband lies. I'm sick of her surrogates, mostly that Kiki and her big fake smile. I've had it up to here with punditry. Yeah, I knew Obama wouldn't pull it off tonight - do I need 7 hours of morons trying to justify her win or explain why he lost? No. (Todd, Olbermann, and Brokaw excepted from this rant.) Why do I have to get any sort of substantive news from the internet? When David Gregory said on his ridiculous excercise of a "tv show" a few days ago that the bitter comment and the flag pin issues were, in fact, important and not at all slimy, I wanted to drive to wherever he was and punch him. They should all be ashamed that they continue to perpetuate the tabloid-esque news they spew on a daily basis, and then attempt to justify it.
I want this over so we can go back to the good old days of media - constant Britney updates, mines collapsing and college shootings. Okay, maybe not.
Perhaps not elegantly stated, but I've really had enough. Anyone else?
EDIT - I wrote my first diary as a sort of love letter to Olbermann. He replied, which was nice, but I don't know if he saw my reply to his post, where I wrote this "I'm never amazed at the discouragement of thought in this country - it seems to me to be the status quo. The dumbing down of the entire nation has been going on for decades - how else will we buy the bs they peddle and swallow the gall without complaint, except that they make us numb and complacent?" I think it suits my feelings about the media pretty well in general. And did Buchanan just call Maddow a Marxist??
