After taking a look at the "A Dissenting Opinion From a Huge Obama Fan" diary, I think I have the solution to Obama's problem...
He needs to be perfect and infallible and omnipotent and omnipresent. He needs to be the Alpha and Omega. He needs to have a visible halo and a choir of angels at his back. Lakes needs to part under his feet. Birds must sing upon his arrival and animals must do a choreographed dance.
Honestly, I am all for constructive criticism, so I believe expressing your opinions are a good thing. I would just like for everyone to keep in mind that he is not perfect, the race was never going to be easy for him, and that it is normal for a candidate running for President to occasionally need to reboot.
I know of what I speak, because it has been hard to change my "Obama has to be perfect or he will lose the nomination" mindset. I am one of those AA, who prior to January, would have never dared to dream that we would have an VIABLE AA candidate...at least not for many, many, many years. So I felt strongly that HE HAD TO BE PERFECT and THERE COULD BE NO MAJOR DISRUPTIONS especially any focusing on his race. I actually thought it was all over when he became the "Black Candidate" after the race/race card/racial incendiary comments furor after South Carolina.
(And just for the record, if anyone wants to know. Although Hillary had anywhere for 35% to 60% of the AA vote initially. Her comments diminishing MLK put a nail in her coffin. For many AA, MLK is only second to Jesus.)
So I have learned to accept that he is not perfect, while at the same time realizing that he needs to stay at the top of his game AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. More big rallies v. less big rallies...not important. More attacks v. less attacks...may backfire, may not. At this point he is the nominee, barring (another) meteoric event, and he even handles those decently.
Because the primary race has gone on for so long, people basically chosen who they want for the nominee and their views have hardened and is mostly likely not going to change.
Looking at the polls and it's roughly 10% left out there who are undecided. Those are the people who we need to target. For Obama's morale and our own, we need to continue to support him in every way possible. And focus on those superdelegates to hurry up and end this thing, because IMO Hillary can't win the nom without destroying the party. IT'S TIME TO START FOCUSING ON MCCAIN!
