One of the sports metaphors used by Clinton acolytes to describe the primary contest as it exists today is as follows. This is the 3rd quarter in the game. We don't stop the game after three quarters.
I want you to consider a few sports metaphors that I think describe what happened in Pennsylvania well.
Baseball:
This primary is a 56 inning game (dc, americans abroad etc included). Senator Clinton won the 49th inning with a few runs. In total score she is so far behind, there aren't enough innings left for her to win the game.
Racing:
Indy 500 is 200 lap race. Senator Clinton clocked better speed in the 190th lap. But Senator Clinton is too many laps down in the race to be able to ever catch up.
Marathon:
A marathon is 26 miles. Senator Clinton clocked better speed in the 23rd mile, but she is a few miles behind Senator Obama. She will never catch up.
Tour de France:
Tour de France is a 21 stage race. Senator Clinton won the 15th stage. We don't make some one who wins the 15th stage the winner. In the total race, Senator Obama is several minutes ahead.
Feel free to add your own metaphors.
