Rasmussen Reports is out with their latest national tracking poll and guess what? It shows absolutely no movement to Hillary after her "historic" and "game changing" 9-point in Pennsylvania.
This is sure to be disappointing news to Hillary supporters like Lanny Davis, who keep one eye trained on these national tracking polls for any signs of Obama weakness. But as we have seen all primary season, Obama is able to absorb hits and come out on top.
National voters are settling in on the fact that Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee.
In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, it’s Obama 49%, Clinton 42% (see recent daily Democratic Nomination results). Those numbers are unchanged from the night before and, so far, there is absolutely no indication that Clinton’s victory in Pennsylvania has changed the overall dynamic of the race. These results are based upon a four-day rolling average and include two full nights of polling following the Pennsylvania Primary.
These results and other data suggest that there is no "momentum" in this Primary Season. Typically, momentum results as voters learn more about a candidate who is doing well. This cycle, Hillary Clinton began the campaign as one of the best known people in the world. Democrats uneasy with her quickly settled on Obama as the chief challenger who has now become the frontrunner.
Also, Obama's favorable numbers (50-48) continue to improve and are now on par with John McCain's (52-46). Meanwhile, Hillary's reviews are 46% favorable and 53% unfavorable. Hillary has only hit 50% favorability twice since Feb. 11.
Gallup will release their daily tracking numbers this afternoon.
