Terry McAuliffe and others are propelling the propaganda that "Hillary won despite being outspent 2 to 1, or even 3 to 1" on the PA primary.
Everyone realizes by now that Hillary was out-raised, so she was out-spent. If she could have matched his fundraising, then the "outspent" line would hold water, but she didn’t and it doesn’t. If the shoe was on the other foot, and she beat him in donations, she would have naturally spent more than him.
There are more problems with the Clinton campaign’s claims.
The other problem I have with this "outspent" theme is that he really did not outspend her "2 or 3 to 1". According to OpenSecrets.org, who posts numbers directly from the FEC, Obama spent $28,903,437 in March, Clinton spent $21,548,862.
The Mississippi primary was on the 11th and was the last one in March. You can’t really count the March 4th primaries in this because the bulk of the spending for those was done in February. So, from the 11th to the 31st is almost three weeks.
From the March figures, she mostly kept up with Barack Obama’s spending. It’s true that Obama outspent Hillary during the PA primary campaign, but the margin may not be what they are spinning. Half the campaign was during March and the spending being reported to the FEC just doesn’t equal "2 to 1". I am anxious to see the April figures, but they won’t be reported until the 20th of May.
I found something very startling. Remember the supposed $10 Million that McAuliffe and Clinton claimed they raised in 24 hours after the PA primary? The Federal Election Commission says that the Clinton campaign has transferred in that exact amount, $10 million, sometime prior to March 31st. The FEC website shows that the amount was transferred in to the category "previous campaigns". The only other previous campaign is her senate reelection. This $10 million is not part of the $5 million loan she gave herself back in January.
It is curious they make the claim they raised $10 million by small donations from the internet when there was an amount equal to that already in their coffers from another source. Anyway, here’s the Federal Election Commission chart on the candidates and their receipts through March 31: http://www.fec.gov/...

Update 1: Apology! It seems that I have made a terrible mistake and I am truly sorry for it. Since I posted the diary today called FEC Records Show an Earlier $10 million I have since learned from an article from ABC News By KATE SNOW April 1, 2007 that:
In addition to Clinton's $26 million raised over the 10 weeks since she announced her candidacy, $10 million left over from her successful run for re-election to the Senate last fall will be transferred into her presidential account, making the total receipts she will report for the first quarter of 2007 technically $36 million.
Because the $10 million were raised for her Senate run under federal campaign finance laws, Clinton is able to transfer that money to her presidential campaign account.
This is where the $10 million came from. Again, I am sorry for the portion of my diary that attempmted to question this portion of ther funding.
