The other diary discussion has slid off the recent diaries list, so I thought I would start up a diary to discuss Reverend Wright's WONDERFUL interview with Bill Moyers that I really hope everyone watches.
You can watch the whole thing right here: http://www.pbs.org/...
I saw from some of the comments that John King on CNN is already doing a hatchet job on what Wright said. But we have no control over that, as always. What we can do is watch the interview, make up our own minds about what we think, and hopefully disseminate it to our family and friends.
Also, I hope everyone will write to Bill Moyers and tell him he is a true journalist and we need more just like him.
Anyway, thoughts?
Update:
This made the rec list? Thanks Folks! Although now I feel guilty for not having enough content so I will expand on some thoughts.
As thrilled as I am with this interview, I am not as happy about the fact that Wright will be speaking and taking questions at some press club dinner on Monday. I am apprehensive because, unlike Bill Moyers, one of those "journalists" is bound to ask him some sort of gotcha question.
That said, I think that anyone who sees him speak would immediately understand that he is not at all like the caricature he has been portrayed to be. It's possible that the more interviews he does, the more the media will be forced to present him as who he really is. Although, I guess that is the optimist in me speaking.
So what can we do? The first thing is show this interview to our family and friends (particularly the folks who have only been exposed to the out-of-context clips). And I am already working on a letter to the editor expressing how well Wright speaks for himself, and how much he has been mischaracterized. I also wrote to CNN to tell them to use some more decency in their coverage of this interview and of Wright in general.
