Dear Senator Clinton,
Prior to this primary, I was a big fan of yours. But, as people going through a divorce often say, "I don't know who you are any more".
When I saw you standing on the stage with your husband in 1992, with Fleetwood Mac playing in the background, I was overjoyed that the country would be returning to decency. While I disagreed with some of Bill's policy decisions, on the whole, I think he was a decent man trying to do the best he could for the country.
I followed with great hope while you tried to fix the health care industry in 1993 and subsequent years. I was right with you when you said "It takes a village". I agree with that sentiment still, and I know how having a supportive network helps in raising a child.
I felt your pain (sorry), when you were going through the double hit of an unfaithful husband and a very messy impeachment process. I admired your strength of character.
I scolded the naysayers who called you a carpetbagger in your Senate run, and supported you as you went about representing the nation in the Senate.
I forgave you your votes on the PATRIOT act, and AUMF that led to this horrid conflict in Iraq. While I am dismayed at your unwillingness to admit that these votes were a mistake, I admire your strength of conviction.
Kyl-Lieberman was more of a blow to me, but I have been willing to write it off to love of country.
Your voting record has been good, and mostly liberal, reflecting strong Democratic ideals.
As of today however, I no longer know you. I don't know what you stand for. I no longer trust you to do what is right for the country.
- Suggesting that McCain would be a better commander in chief that Obama
- "Bomb Iran", obliterate millions of innocent citizens.
- Going on Right Wing TV to denounce a fellow democrat
- Continuing to hurl mud that can't help you, but only hurt the Democratic party.
I have no choice but to say that you are only remaining in this race for yourself. Not for country, not for party, but for you and your husband.
So - now I can clearly say "I don't know who you are anymore"
Please consider what you are doing.
