Things are getting really exciting in the Keystone State these days. All week we have been bombarded with polls that show Senator Obama closing the gap in Penn.
Here's a quick sampling of what's come out:
Morning Call/Muhlenberg U
Clinton 49%
Obama 38%
Quinnipiac
Clinton 50%
Obama 41%
Rasmussen
Clinton 47%
Obama 42%
Survey USA
Clinton 53%
Obama 41%
If you're Hillary Clinton, you got to be nervous. See up until Pennsylvania, none of the states that Obama has won count for anything. All 30 of them. Just ask Clinton advisor Mark Penn:
"Could we possibly have a nominee who hasn’t won any of the significant states — outside of Illinois? That raises some serious questions about Sen. Obama."
Aside from the insulting and pretentious nature of the quote, Mark Penn is essentially epitomizing everything that is wrong with the Democratic Party establishment.
When Howard Dean became the head of the DNC after the 2004 election, he ushered in a new strategy for Democrats: The 50-State Strategy.
The gist of this program is to make Democrats competitive, not just in the swing states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, but all over the country.
"Election by election, state by state, precinct by precinct, door by door, vote by vote...We're going to lift our party up and take this country back for the people who built it." - Governor Dean.
Does any of this sound familiar? If it does, you're probably an Obama supporter.
See, since the beginning of this primary season, Senator Obama has been committed to running a truly national campaign. Whether it was opening offices in Fargo, North Dakota, Lawrence, Kansas, Birmingham, Alabama or Salt Lake City, Utah - Obama has been committed to fighting for every last vote all over the country.
That's the reason why he is leading in pledged delegates.
Thanks to the likes of Mark Penn, the Clinton campaign has already committed themselves to running a 50% + 1 campaign. They've insulted the people of 30 different states by telling them that their votes don't matter and that since it'll be tougher for them to win in November, they're just going to give up.
That's not what running for President is about.
You're the President of the United States, not the President of the people who voted for you. That's a real Bush-like mentality to have and it has no place in our government.
So what can we do? How do we, those irrelevant voters who backed Obama in the primary and delivered him one of the big 30 help deliver him No. 31 in PA?
Obviously, Volunteering is huge. So, is making calls.
However, recently I've set up a fundraising page on Barackobama.com to help the cause.
Insignificant States for Obama
If you're pissed off at the arrogance and condenscension of the Clinton campaign towards you, please consider donating a couple of bucks to this fundraising drive. Even if it's only $1, all donations are deeply appreciated.
Once again, that link is Insignificant States for Obama.
Thanks, for reading and helping Barack end this thing once and for all in Pennsylvania!
Yes, we can!
