The Clinton’s money does matter...
The Clinton's money matters not because they're rich, but because we must question their motivations for returning to the White House, and we must question whether this will cloud Sen. Clinton's judgement if she is elected as the next POTUS.
Why does the Clinton’s money matter?
I don’t fault the Clintons for earning $109 million over the course of seven years. This shows what a great country we live in when someone from humble means in Hope, Arkansas can earn over $50 million in speeches.
But there are several questions voters must ask themselves: were there any political favors tied to these speeches? Will the President’s ear be for sale to the highest bidder? Are there economic factors motivating the Clintons’ return to the White House?
In 2005 Canadian mining financier Frank Guistra traveled to Kazakhstan with former President Bill Clinton. Guistra won rights to buy three uranium projects in Kazakhstan, and months after the agreement was finalized Guistra gave $31 million dollars to Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation. Some hackles were raised during the Kazakhstan trip because Bill Clinton made it a point to praise the Kazakh President, dictator, and human rights violator, Nursultan Nazarbayev. This was in direct contradiction with the U.S.’s policy toward Kazakhstan. With the release of the Clinton’s tax statements, some are asking what happened to the $15 million that Bill Clinton received from Ron Burkle over a four-year period.
Earning one’s income at such a fast rate is certainly appealing to any human being. But I wonder if Hillary Clinton is truly running for the presidency because she loves her country and feels she can do a better job or if there’s big business in it for the Clintons. Her argument that she would do a better job is questionable at best given how she’s run her campaign thus far.
I don’t think people care, and rightfully so, that the Clinton’s made $109 millions giving speeches and selling books. I do, however, think people worry that money and promises could possible cloud Hillary Clinton’s judgment if she were elected President of the United States.
