Indiana Congressman Baron Hill officially endorsed Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States on Wednesday.
Indicative of the support the Illinois Senator is getting from young voters nation-wide, nearly 12,000 people, mostly Indiana University students who should have been studying for finals, gathered to hear Obama speak at Indiana University’s Assembly Hall, home of IU’s five-time NCAA basketball champions. Obama said when both he and Hill are elected, Congressman Hill, a member of Indiana’s High School Basketball Hall of Fame, will help him take the bowling alley out of the White House and bring some Indiana basketball to Washington.
Hill who had previously been an undeclared super delegate had introduced Senator Hillary Clinton at an Indiana University rally last week with an audience of around 3,000.
Hill was also part of the crowd in Bloomington’s legendary Bloomington bar, Nick’s English Hut when Senator Obama made an unannounced visit there on April 11th.
In his introduction Wednesday Baron Hill called Barack Obama the Roger Bannister of this era, doing something that nobody thought was possible. Bannister was the first person to run a mile in less than four-minutes. Hill is no stranger when it comes to running. He still hold's the Indiana High School record for the 100-yard dash. Of course the race was changed to 100-meters a shortly after Hill graduated.
