Yes, the Creepublicans consider Hillary to be one of their best tools in the fight to keep the Democratic nomination away from Barack Obama and to tear him down before he has a chance to pummel John McCain - the Creepublican party's "Knight of The Living Dead".
They'd prefer to face Hillary in November because SO many right wingers hate the Clintons SO strongly that she'd galvanize the right behind McCain, boost his fundraising, and rally voters to their side.
And who was it that called Mrs. Clinton "Our best surrogate"? The answer is below the fold.
As reported by Jonathan Martin of Politico, the Republican Attack Machine is in full operation against Senator Barack Obama, but they're IGNORING Hillary at the same time. There are several reasons for this.
The right wingers have called the Democratic primary race and decided that Obama has won.
Tearing down Obama has a two-fold benefit. They beat him up early so that he's less of a threat to their man, John "I walk with a" McCain. And if they can swing the primary towards Clinton (their preferred November opponent), so much the better for them.
The Clintons have decided that their scorched-earth policy against Obama is their only hope of ramming a Clinton down this nation's collective throat. I, for one, refuse to play the part of Monica.
But the Clintons have clearly decided that it is to their benefit (and it's always about them, isn't it?) to attack the front-runner of their own party instead of the opposition's candidate. You hear more from the Clinton campaign about why Hillary is better than Senator Obama than about why Hillary is better than John McSame. Hillary comes out again and again lined up with McBush on issue after issue. She almost sounds like she's running to be McCain's nominee for VP in November - or perhaps she'd like to play the part of Monica for him. In either case, she sure attacks her own party's leader one helluva lot more than she does the opposition's nominee.
It is easy to see that the Clintons have gone WAY beyond the horrible concept of "Party Before Country" to the concept of "Us Before Party" or even "Us Before All".
Their campaign against the likely nominee of their own party has prompted Barbara Comstock, a former RNC research director and GOP strategist to say of Hillary Clinton, "She's our best surrogate."

Even McAin't himself has stepped up attacks against Obama - but not a peep out of him about Hillary. It's all detailed in the article. You really need to read it.
