I have been a life-long Republican, and so I am not suppose to say what I am about to say on this site.
If my Dad (who is Southern) would ever read this post he would be furious, but it needs to be said about the primary victory that Hillary Clinton will obtain in the great state of West Virginia today.
Hillary has mentioned that some of Barack's victories don't count because he won in caucus states where people are high-brow and out-of-touch. He has won in states where the population is too educated and look down on the common working class. He has won in states where the vast majority of voters have been party activists with cushy jobs where they can afford to miss work and caucus while drinking wine and tasting cheese.
Well, this is what Hillary's victory will mean today:
She has proven that she can win in the oldest, dumbest, poorest and whitest state in America.
There, I feel better now.
Should this victory count?
A) Did you know that West Virginia has a huge older population (16%) when
the national average is about 12%?
B) Did you know that West Virginia has a lower younger generation (21%)compared with a national average of (25%) because most young people want to get out of there?
C) Did you know that West Virginia has the lowest Hispanic population in America (0.8%) when the national average is about (15%)? What do those poor immigrants know about racism that Hillary won't acknowledge? You would think that a state with a huge number of low paying jobs and uneducated people would benefit from an immigrant population.
D) Did you know that West Virginia has a black population of (3.3%) when the national average is almost (13%)? Stay away black people!!!
E) Did you know that they have the lowest foriegn born population in the country (1.1%) when the national average is over (11%)? That's right folks...no Europeans welcome either!
F) Did you know that they are the most uneducated state in the Union with only (14%) of their finest graduating from college? The national average is over (24%)!
G) The last statistic probably accounts for the fact that West Virginia has over (16%) of their population in poverty. Again, the national average is only (12%), but what makes this statistic so damning is that the VAST majority of people in the U.S. in poverty are black and hispanic, of which West Virginia has none.
Those are all facts and can be found here
Now some of my own facts:
- Did you know that 99% of West Virginia residents think that "Garrison Keillor" is some sort of medical condition.
- Did you know that 87% of West Virginia populants think that wine ALWAYS comes in a box?
- Did you know that 85% of the people in West Virginia have ALL of the below?
Vanity Plate
Gun Rack In The Truck
A Truck
None of those are bad separately...but all three??!!
- Did you know that 97% of West Virginia people think that classic music is something from Hank Williams Sr.?
- Did you know that re-runs of The Dukes Of Hazard draw larger audiences than House?
I give you these statistics for a couple of reasons.
First of all, they will put into context all the other statistics you will hear this evening about white people not voting for Barack, and thinking he is a Muslim, and that he hates his country.
I suggest you mix all the above statistics together and wash them down with a chilled glass of wine. It will make more sense that way.
Secondly, this is what Hillary would say if she were in Barack's position. This is what she would say. She would coldly eliminate West Virginia from her post-primary election map, and crucify them for the sake of convincing delegates that she is more electable.
For the record, I don't think West Virginia is all that bad...
But then again, I'm more tolerant because I have a college education; I've lived around people who aren't like me; and I do like classical music (every now and then).
