I watched the returns from West Virginia last night, flipping through the various news channels with reckless abandon. The punditry pretended to be shocked at her margin of victory and gabbed to fill the time while they waited with baited breath for her "Victory" speech.
A little after 9:00 came Hillary's Big Moment. With difficulty and amusement I listened to the drivel pouring from Hillary's lips. Predictably, she (yet again)changed the rules to fit her mantra (let's keep going):
"So, this race isn't over yet. Neither of us has the total delegates it takes to win and both Senator Obama and I believe that the delegates from Florida and Michigan should be seated. I believe we should honor the votes cast by 2.3 million people in those states and seat all of their delegates. Under the rules of our party, when you include all 50 states, the number of delegates needed to win is 2,209, and neither of us has reached that threshold yet. This win in West Virginia will help me move even closer."
It is past time to state the FACTS. This race has been over since March. The delegate math was set and the candidate's numbers are going in the expected direction. Obama has been the presumptive nominee for MONTHS! EVERYONE knows it but the MSM chooses to play the Clinton game anyway.
Years ago, when my brothers and I would play Monopoly, we learned that the rules were simple, yet finite. My family is VERY competitive, so the loser was never ready to get out of the game (even when they ran out of money and properties). We changed the rules, therefore we could keep the game and the fun going until, well, we were tired......
Obama's team mastered the primary rules and played the game accordingly. Hillary, the sore loser, wants to keep changing the rules after the fact to benefit her candidacy. When she was INEVITABLE, she LIED to the folks in New Hampshire and said: "Michigan won't matter". Now that the math is IMPOSSIBLE, we are "disenfrachising the 2.3 million Florida and Michigan" voters. She doesn't want the race to be won on delegate count, but popular vote. Just in case the popular vote is not in her favor, she thinks electoral math is the key. The delegate math is not 2029, but 2209. Now she says we should ignore Obama's lead in delegates, popular vote, and superdelegates because she "can win the swing states".
Suffice it to say that we need to hold the DNC's feet to the fire. We need to hold Howard Dean's feet to the fire and remind him that 48 states played by the rules that were AGREED upon by all participants. The Rules committee meets at the end of May and Donna Brazil revealed that the meetings are open. Hopefully they will be broadcast on C-Span. If rules are meant to be broken, they serve no purpose. Laws are for the lawless, and clearly the Clintons have no scruples. It is time to end the madness.
