Bush today in his speech in Israel made a startling claim in regards to his own Sec. of Def. From that speech:
"Some seem to believe we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along," Bush told the Israeli lawmakers. "We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is -- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

Yesterday Sec. Gates had this to say :
The United States should construct a combination of incentives and pressure to engage Iran, and may have missed earlier opportunities to begin a useful dialogue with Tehran, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said yesterday.
"We need to figure out a way to develop some leverage . . . and then sit down and talk with them," Gates said. "If there is going to be a discussion, then they need something, too. We can't go to a discussion and be completely the demander, with them not feeling that they need anything from us."
Gates: U.S. Should Engage Iran With Incentives, Pressure
While Dana Perino denies that Bush was attacking Obama, Barack put out this statement:
"It is sad that President Bush would use a speech to the Knesset on the 60th anniversary of Israel's independence to launch a false political attack," Obama said in the statement his aides distributed. "George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the president's extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel."

I don't have much more to say about all this except that it appears Bush has lost what little bit of reasoning ability he had left. His pandering and polticization of our electoral process while overseas to beg his friends in OPEC to free up more Oil seems more a Saturday Night Live Skit, than a US Pres. looking to stops a War or 2.
