Ever since John Edwards endorsed Barack Obama yesterday, one thing that Obama had to say in his introduction of JRE to the stage prior to his endorsement stuck with me.
We didn't have a chance to campaign here during the primary, And I felt bad about it... I felt guilty about not campaigning... and so, as a consequence, I decided that I would try to give you something special. I decided that on my first full day of campaigning in Michigan that I wouldn't be fooling around, that I wasn't gonna just do the same old thing...
Of course what followed was the introduction of John Edwards.
Well it was this quote that got me thinking about something. Some other incredibly earth shaking, potential last knock out blow endorsement.
Jump if you're interested...
So after I heard this quote, and after reading this diary about how damned smart Obama's deployment of JRE was, I started wondering about how many other pivotal endorsements Obama has in his inside pockets.
People have been speculating about the Gore endorsement for ages now. How easy our lives would have been had someone like Gore stepped out and affirmed the people's choice. But with the Democratic race slowly winding down, many people believe the period for crucial endorsements had passed.
But, just like in the linked diary I have above, I'm starting to believe that maybe Obama is just being smarter than us. I think there is reason to believe the Gore endorsement is still something that would prove quite valuable to Democratic Unity if Hillary remains determined to go to the convention floor, or at least May 31st.
So let that be a given, Gore's endorsement still has some serious knock out potential, especially with how belligerent Hillary has proved to be in the past. Just keep that in the back of your skull.
Today I was just going down the list of major events Barack Obama has planned in the upcoming week on his website. On May 21st I realized that he has a large campaign rally planed in Tampa, Florida.
If you get where I'm going, don't spoil it.
Basically my suggestion is that, if, even after the 20th of May, when Obama almost certainly will have at least the majority of pledged delegates, Hillary insists on staying in the race, Hukabee style, then I think we might see a similar scenario in Tampa, Florida that played out in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Think about it.
Given, if Hillary finally collapses on the 20th, this may not be the case. However, if Hillary is going to wait around until the 31st of May to see how the Rules Committee deals with Michigan and Florida, this could be an excellent time for Obama to wheel out an endorsement that many here think has past its shelf-life.
If Hillary remains in the Campaign, what better way to show absolute coalescence of the Democratic Party around our nominee Barack Obama than to have the champion of Global Warming awareness and one of the preeminent statesman from the United States endorse him the day after Hillary refuses to see the brightest of lights?
Not to mention that it certainly would be "something special" for Florida. The man elected President in 2000, supporting the nominee for 2008, one of the most coveted endorsements of this political season, and it would happen in Florida, where a lot of people are feeling abandoned and neglected. Party unity: commencing. Olive branch: thrown.

Here's to the closing of what has been one of the most incredible primary seasons ever. And it's only my first!!
