As you all know Bush thought he could drive this truck straight at the Democratic Party:
"Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along.
"We have an obligation to call this what it is: the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."
In the typical game of chicken with Dems, they flinch first.
But there is a new driver behind the wheel...
Obama drove this beauty straight back at them:
"George Bush and John McCain have a lot to answer for," Mr. Obama said at a town hall meeting in a barn here, listing the war in Iraq and stalled diplomacy in other parts of the Middle East. He added "If George Bush and John McCain want to have a debate about protecting the United States of America, that is a debate I am happy to have any time, any place."
Isn't it refreshing to have someone lead us with some guts to tell the truth?
Now it looks to me it is the WhiteHouse that is the one flinching in this game of chicken.
BarbinMD's CNN link from the morning says this:
Before:
The president did not name Sen. Barack Obama or any other Democrat, but White House aides privately acknowledged to CNN that the remarks were aimed at the presidential candidate and others in his party.
But same link is getting walked back now.
After:
White House officials denied Obama was a target of Bush's remarks. But privately, White House aides indicated the criticism was aimed at various Democrats, including Obama and former President Jimmy Carter.
Whitehouse is trying to say it was all about Carter.
CNN lends a helping hand.
Sorry CNN and RNC but we got us a new guy behind the wheel.
Who is gonna flinch? The Dems?
Not. This. Time.
Can we dump them in the ditch?
Yes. We. Can.
