I was just over at DD and checking out the map of America with current poll leaders. I think it is safe to say that things are early and much will change and that I think we have a fantastic candidate in Obama.
I also think that Wisconsin and Michigan are in the bag for Obama. Unfortunately even with those 2 states (currently they are in mccain's camp) Obama still comes up a bit short, once you put Indiana in Mccain's camp where I think it rightly belongs. Now I do realize that Obama expands the map and puts a lot of states in play, but I hate to have the balance of this election on the shoulders of traditional Republican states such as North Carolina and Virginia.
So as I pondered the situation I wondered again whether Hillary Clinton might not be a bad choice after all for VP. Up to this point I have been against it for all the reasons other posters have listed. However, I think it is worth considering some potential benefits:
- help with the people obama need most help with (no need to repeat what she has already said here with regard to who "the people" are.)
- stomps out the "upset women" issue.
- maybe puts places such as florida and ohio and even (maybe) arkansas in play. It really spreads the map far and wide and gives us many ways to win.
I have not been happy with the Clinton's during this campaign but they still do bring a lot to the table. The media would eat up the "dream team" concept. I do fear what it would do for Obama as a President and worry that it might hurt him that way, but I look at the electoral college and I am a bit worried. I also know that she brings quite a few negatives to the table as well and I'm not sure that she would even say yes if asked. But for the last 2 weeks she has run a very decent campaign (I wish she would have run like this the whole way) and I was very glad to read her defense of Obama against Bush's craziness last week. And if you don't win it doesn't matter how good a President you would have been...
anyway, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
