Like many Americans this week, I received my IRS rebate via direct deposit today for $1,200.00. I guess I should be grateful, but I really don't see how this passes for sound economic policy. But then again, we're talking about the Bush administration. So what should I do with my new found riches?
I guess I should admit that my wife and I are very lucky at the moment, and not exactly hurting for extra cash. I have a well paying corporate job in IT, and she is self-employed and doing extremely well at the moment. But I guess no one should really look a gift horse in the mouth, right?
We're about to head off to Europe next week for a much anticipated vacation, so I could take those $1,200 and convert them into Euros. I'd only get about 775 Euros. A few years ago we could get almost 1,000. With the crappy dollar and high cost of living in Europe, that 775 Euros wouldn't go far, but I guess every little bit extra helps. So I guess my $1,200 tax "rebate" is going to help stimulate the European ecomomy. So how is everyone else planning to spend their check?
