Because you (Progressives) don't know how to fight.
Because this site, for all it's bloviating about being tough and honest and wanting a candidate to speak the truth, is unwilling to do so for yourself or your candidate.
Barack Obama will lose because (as usual) the Republicans will control the general MSM talking points.
You can change that...but you must attack these lies now...with strength, before it's too late...if it's not already.
These lies have to be reversed in the media.
- Barack Obama has trouble with the "working class."
The Republicans have already won this battle:
First the Repug News Site, FOXS:
Laura Ingraham said this last night on Bill O'Rielly
"The Democratic Party should be worried because with each successive primary we can see the growing divide in their electorate. Obama wins liberal Oregon by 18 points but gets creamed by Hillary in conservative Kentucky. Obama lost big in states like Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania because to the working class he came off as aloof and out of touch. More middle American voters see him as just another bicoastal liberal like those who lost five of the last seven elections. But even if Hillary is the stronger candidate to go up against McCain, the MoveOn.Org types with the most influence in the Democratic Party don't care. They'd rather take their chances on the more left wing of the two candidates. Democrats really seem to be incapable of learning from history. In 1972 the Democrats nominated George McGovern, the most liberal candidate, only to have him go on to lose in the second biggest landslide ever. Party officials installed superdelegates to avoid similar disasters in the future. So if superdelegates were actually living up to their stated duties, this race might already be over and Hillary would be the nominee. That would be change we could believe in."
Nice...and it plays oh so well. But also completely untrue.
Now, one of your news outlets, CNN:
As Sen. Barack Obama closes in on the Democratic nomination, a potentially challenging storyline for his campaign has emerged: He's yet to make his case with the working-class voters.
Barack Obama has trailed Hillary Clinton among support from working-class voters.
Exit polls in Tuesday's Kentucky primary were the latest to point to that problem.
So, I guess this is the accepted theory now...???
One problem...it's all a load of crap.
You (Democrats, Gore, Dean, Daily Kos, Moveon.org) all need to say the same thing to help people understand.
Barack has won a lot of white states. Utah is not liberal. Alaska is not elite. Oregon has a lot of working class voters...so does Virginia.
Barack DOES NOT have a problem with working class voters. Barack has a problem with racism. This has been true from Day 1, and has nothing to do with Reverend Wright, or Bittergate. Barack has a problem with states that have a high concentration of whites who "are not ready to vote for a black man"...Governor Rendell's words... and so true.
This election should be a referendum on our country and not a discussion about if he is offending people with his upper-class sensibilities. This is the issue:
Barack won 23% of the White Vote in West Virginia.
And before this shocks you, the writing on the wall could be seen long ago when he won another poor, uneducated state in the South...Mississippi. He won only 26% of the White Vote there?!
That was before "Bittergate." That was before Reverend Wright.
Barack lost Tennessee to Hillary. His White Vote percentage there? 26%!
In South Carolina he killed Hillary and he only won 24% of the White Vote.
When over 22% percent of the voting population ADMIT that race is playing a part in their voting decision, and over 85% of those voters are casting ballots for the White Lady?..well, Houston, we've got a problem!
Call it what it is Democrats before it becomes what it isn't! (That he is an out-of-touch liberal with the tough American working class people.)
This is racism.
Shame the American people, and understand that by doing so this issue will come to the fore-front and become about US...not HIM!
- Barack is the most liberal candidate
Nice job Republicans! Winning again on this one:
Barack is more conservative than Hillary. Yes, it is true that she has out-flanked him on the right and claimed that middle ground in this primary, but that was not always the case.
Remember the Obamacans? We knew that he had ideas that were of a concern to many of us who are centrists.
- He believes in merit pay for teachers...have you ever had a candidate that espoused that view?
- He believes in personal responsibilty over government intervention. Remember his admonitions for parents to keep their kids away from the TV, and doing homework together? He recently admonished us to drive smaller cars and turn our air conditioners down. These are things Republicans say.
- He opposes lowering the penalties for drug offenses.
- He wants employer sanctions and proof of employment for illegal aliens.
- "We are the change we seek." "Change from the bottom up" These could be the bylines of any successful Republican politician.
And let me ask, since when did Barack become the bi-coastal, Hollywood, wine-drinking liberal that he is being made out to be?
I thought this guy was abanodoned by his father and raised by his mother and grandmother, and lived in a third world country most of his young life. Didn't he overcome drugs and bad grades? Isn't he a tough Chicago politician? When did this guy become an elitist?
Re-claim the story
- Barack is stealing the election because of the disproportionate way the Democrats allot their delegates.
Okay, would you finally just throw Hillary under the bus? She is hurting your party. She was from the beginning and is currently doing so now. If she is allowed to write the story, this will be about a young man jumping in front of the line to take another job from a woman... and doing it because of the fine print, not because he is the better candidate.
That story has taken hold in millions of Americans already because your party has dragged it's feet on the tough things it needs to say about Florida and Michigan and even caucuses.
If Barack and Hillary were Republicans, I guarantee she would not be able to do this. We would ask here why she doesn't support rules that she abided by earlier. We would ask her exactly what is so "undemocratic" about caucuses, and why she was never against them until THIS YEAR! We would call her a person who supports the breaking of rules for personal gain. We would make commercials where people in Florida and Michigan who didn't vote would be interviewed and say "I didn't vote because I knew my vote wouldn't count this year. Why am I being disenfranchised?" We would line up a thousand people to say these things.
Eventually if Barack loses it will be because you are your own worse enemy. It will be because you don't know how to fight. It will be because you are afraid to cut ties with old friends (Clintons).
You will lose because even now, the Republicans are writing this story.
