I started to think about this the other day when Hillary Clinton invoked Karl Rove and his "research" as a campaign talking point. To me Karl Rove is a terrifying and destructive individual who taught an entire generation of mediocre republicans how to steal elections through fraud, media manipulation, racism, fear and deceit. He is a major reason for the mentality of this junta that currently is destroying any vestige of the democracy formerly known as the United States of America. For Hillary Clinton to even mention him as a credible indicator or attempt to improve her status as a candidate by dignifying this individual is not even a mere despicable deceit. It is a betrayal of every democrat, of every progressive, of every person who ever handed out a leaflet or rang a doorbell or made an effort in the hope that they were trying to better a community and uplift a society. But Hillary's obsession and narcissism is such that she tosses off these kinds of fireballs with the ennui of someone tossing a cigarette butt out of a car window. A whole generation of Americans will suffer the consequences of Karl Rove but for Hillary "Karl thinks I'm more electable." Wow, that really changed my mind.
The other night some Hillary flack on "after Hours" kept beating the relentless tomtom of "Hillary won Michigan, Hillary will win the popular vote." Don't these people understand that every time they say that that they amplify the fact that Hillary's opponents, ALL of them, took a pledge to stay out of Michigan AND WERE NOT EVEN ON THE BALLOT! And to keep hammering on that point only underlines the very duplicity that explains how Hillary is now the most mistrusted and disliked presumptive candidate in US political history. It's beyond arrogance, it's delusion and a detachment from reality. I think the woman has something seriously wrong with her psyche and I'm not kidding.
To some of you younger people you may not even remember Bobby Kennedy. But I remember the night that my parents woke me up with the sounds of literally sobbing over the televison and the news that Bobby was critically shot in the head. Unlike his brother who never knew what hit him, Bobby suffered for a whole day and finally, mercifully passed on. I know Bobby Kennedy had his faults and was a bit of a zealot but he was also one of the most progressive and charismatic politicians in the history of this country and instead of him we got Nixon and a forty year dance with quasi-dictatorship.
For Hillary Clinton to allude to this terrible national tragedy as some mere inconvenience that justifies her campaign is again beyond despicable. It is a symptom of something deeply troubling, a mania if you will.
I don't expect Hillary to have the decency to see reason and stop this embarrassing and frightening meltdown, the political equivalent of a drunk urinating on his (or her) family's Christmas tree. I would expect her supporters to begin to have some shred of decency and call for what is an obvious next step. At the very least, please face the reality that Hillary is avery disturbed woman.
Nominate this woman now? You cannot be serious.
