Just like the real world, people online can do stupid things when they're drunk. Me, I do them all the time, even though I don't drink as much as I probably should.
Note to self...
Since this diary is a bit meta, and a bit micro, I'll begin by apologizing for the last time I posted here. First to "G", and second to the rest of the community.
Without trying to rehash the wrongheaded bs of the other night, and regrets being what they are, I'd like to go over lessons learned:
- If you put words on the internet at three in the morning, they will still be there at three in the morning tomorrow, and the next day, and next year, and so on.
- If you are drunk, do not press send.
- If you do press send, do not try walking back the original stupidity. You will only dig yourself deeper. Take your lumps and deal with your mistake later.
- If you value participating in any online community, just as in real life, do not show up there when you are drunk and argumentative. Go someplace else (where you don't have to log in), where there are others as drunk and intolerable as you are.
- If you've failed to learn the above lessons in time for them to be useful, apologize.
Now I don't know whether these lessons will benefit anyone else, but for a dumbass like myself, I figure they're a start. So again, sorry for being an obstinate chowderhead and argumentative drunk.
I wish I could chalk it up to ek hornbeck's 'evil diary editor' theory... and rewrite the post properly for people who might have stumbled onto that wreck a couple Thursdays ago late night.
Here's a short, simple version of the diary as it could have been written, the next day, when I was sobererer. No frills, just a little explanation and a little show of respect for the posting guidelines and community...

McCain Supporter Crashes Obama Party
The following video is a preview of attacks that we can expect to hear from Republicans, John McCain supporters, and uninformed voters in the run up to this year's presidential election.
Join me on the flip side for a brief glimpse into the state of the race.
Although most of us have heard the talking points brought up in the video (Obama is tax raiser, bad bowler, Muslim, weak on national security, ready to surrender to Al Qaeda, going to fill the White House with blacks, etc)... the method of delivery here is memorable. A drunk McCain supporter stumbles upon an Obama singalong and forcefully makes the case against Obama in terms the mass media could surely understand.
Unfortunately, the singalong is conducted in a foreign language, so the mass media would need the help of a translator... which is where I stepped in, painstakingly subtitling the verses so that the views of Republicans, McCain supporters, and uninformed voters can be shared with the media, and through them the general voting public. If people are talking about these things, they should be reported.
Thanks for reading and watching, I'm glad I didn't try posting this last night when I was drunk. That wouldn't have ended well.
Or something like that. Apologies.
