Karl Rove needs no introduction. We all know who he is, what he's done, and what he represents.
But now he's making it personal. He's going to befoul my fair city of Rochester, MN.
And if that isn't enough...Ron Paul's going to be here, too. So, I need your help.
Aside from your empathy and condolences, it would be great if you could drop a few dollars towards a couple of my candidates.
First off is Tim Walz, one of the wave of "Fighting Dems" in 2006. It's true he has a significant fundraising advantage, but he's been on Karl Rove's hit list since March '06, and MN-01 is still a fairly conservative district, even though it's been trending liberal with the expansion of Rochester and the (relatively) large immigrant population.
The second is Al Franken. He's had a few slips in the polls as he found out he owed about $80,000 in back taxes, but is still our best hope of unseating Norm Coleman. He won't be the official nominee for 2 more weeks, but every little bit helps.
We had our gubernatorial election in '06 so nothing you can help with there, but there are plenty of great local candidates in your part of the woods who I'm sure could use some money. If you still feel in the giving spirit, give them a little, too. All a $5 donation requires is that your bring your own lunch to work instead of going out for fast food.
I'm not one to ask for money. But when the GOP sends its most vile, loony members to my town, you can bet your bottom that I'm not going to take it lying down.
