Well there you go.
8 months or so of constant media babble, dozens of misstatements, and what is that...a lapel pin or is that a red tie you are wearing...?
I got my ballot in the mail yesterday from the state of Oregon asking me to fill in the empty little white bubbles next to all these names I have almost no knowledge about, expect of course Hillary and Obama.
So here it is. This is what Democracy looks like in a living room in Oregon on a sunny Sunday afternoon
It's kind crazy isn't it?
The millions of words spoken for and against so and so, and the millions of dollars transfered to effect my vote, and it comes down to a lazy Sunday afternoon in my living room.
I have watched probably a 100 hours of talking heads blab shit about this and that over and over and over again. So on this Sunday afternoon, May 4th, 2008, I poured a glass of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir opened my ballot and filled in a little bubble next to a name. Well actually several names, and a few initiatives.
Ahhhh, well I am done. I have done my duty.
Ohh wait what is this...
Ohh crap I have to pay to send this ballot in to election officials!!!!
LOOK!
Wow I have been hoarding my forever stamps and now I have to decide whether or not I should part with one so I can send my official voting ballet back to the state of Oregon so Obama can get 1 more vote!
Well at least I am well off enough to afford the stamp. But what about those who are not?
In all sincerity, Why should I have to pay to vote?
I pay my fair share in taxes.
And even that statement is irrelevant, I am a United States citizen, why do I have to spend 0.41 cents to vote? I thought it was my right?
Update***
So here is a photo of the instructions, and there is a page of instructions detailing all of the initiatives, but I don't see any info that states I can just drop this off at the library. It does say "or deliver" so yes I don't need a stamp I guess, but I don't have instructions on where to deliver it to.
Sorry, didn't mean to cause problems, But maybe Oregon should make it more clear that I can drop my ballot off at the library.
