Material Which May Answer The Question "Why We Fight:"
1. Various officially provided, but changing, public reasons provided by the G.W. Bush Administration and his men in Congress: 9/11, not 9/11, WMDs, But list who has WMDs, NPT, but list who violated the NPT, "freedom", but list the kingdoms and dictators we send money and military aid to, to "honor the dead," but by making more dead?
2. Movie "Why We Fight" by Jarecki 2005. Look closely at the policeman's change in understanding, his surprise at the President's later claim that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and his growth of understanding that he had been the victim of trickery.

3. Movie "Syriana" 2005. Look at the remotely controlled US bombing of the democratic brother to save the kingly brother , an act which perpetuates undemocratic kingdoms in the middle east for corporate gain.
4. Book by Smedley D. Butler, "War Is a Racket". Follows the money. It's corporate gain laid bare. It's also the start of American imperialism described by the man who spearheaded the military actions quite literally. Look also at the corporate fascists that later approached Butler to overthrow the US government of FDR, which is not covered in his book.

5. Book by Perkins, "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man", especially the chapter on Iraq. Look at the power hoped to be obtained over the entire mideast and Russia by controlling Iraq in 1991. Look at Bechtel, KBR, Halliburton, their subcontractors, the endless logistics providers, and the banks and so on, getting rich and promoting more of the same through their lobbies and connections.
6. Essay from Congressman Ron Paul, "Why Are Americans So Angry?" This is a powerful essay on the illegitimate reasons for starting war and continuing war, and is truly 'politically incorrect' as they say. Paul's June 2006 speech before Congress exposes some really inconvenient truths about American government, society, and war since 1945 in a concise document.

7. Movie "The Corporation". Look at the Bolivian news footage, and Bechtel's part in the government's water laws, and the destruction of democracy in Bolivia. Fascist governments are alive and well in the 21st century, and American corporations are all too willing participants.

8. Reveal major historical pretexts for war: The Northwoods document and the Bay of Pigs, the Lusitania ruse, the Pearl Harbor ruse, the quiet US invasion of Panama, the 9/11 then WMDs then Freedom then To Honor the Fallen in Iraq which are the ever changing list of reasons why we fight in Iraq. Is Iran next? Is North Korea next? Consider whether these are justified after reading Congressman Ron Paul's June 2006 speech before Congress.
9. Book by Griffin, "The Creature from Jekyll Island". Lays bare the banks' roles in promoting wars, and their significantly hidden collusion with equally shadowy figures in governments to acheive their common goals.
10. Book by Bacevich, "The New American Militarism". Describes the post-WW2 escalated attraction to military action by the US, and the neoconservative persuasion's rise and influence in US military actions since Vietnam. Describes some of the disagreements between conservatism and neoconservatism.
11. News revelations that Euro currency was going to be the required form of payment for oil sold by Iraq, Iran, and Venezuela, rather than Dollars. There was a meeting by these oil producing countries in Caracas in 2000, plus some of their important customers like China. A new Iranian oil bourse was slated to begin operations in spring of 2006. These same three countries become identified by the US government as enemies and "Nazis" in the same time frame. The US invaded Iraq in 2003, threatens Iran in late 2005, and currently performs Naval war games in the Carribean off the shores of Venezuela. The US State Department under Rice requests very large funding from Congress for "government news" production and distribution to these same countries via radio and television. Is it all mere coincidence? If you think this is all a mere coincidence, see what Congressman Ron Paul, member of the Congressional Banking Committee, has to say about the potential effect of the Euro potentially displacing the Dollar on the world oil markets, and the fact that oil, not gold, backs the Dollar today, for the time being.
