Now that Obama is the putative nominee there is all sorts of speculation on his choice for the VP slot.
I do not think Hillary would accept the invitation. Even if she would, I think she hurts a general campaign in several states which Obama would like to make competitive. You just have to know that there are loads of conservative leaning independents and Republicans who like Obama, but who would not pull the lever for a ticket with the Clinton brand on it in a general election.
How about Jim Webb for the VP spot? Webb is right (left) on the war, appeals to "Reagan Democrats" and conservative independents who voted for Bush twice. He would turn Virginia from purple to blue, and it's hard to see a Republican victory when they lose Virginia.
Let me apologize for making a quick hit diary which doesn't measure up to Kos standards, but if you check my history you will see that this is not a bad habit... I just wanted to throw this idea out there and get a bit of feedback. And I would welcome any other ideas on who Obama should pick.
