Big night for Sen Obama. Everyone knows it. Most, if not all the pundits worth half listening to have said it's now "offically" over. Most likley 'cause they said so, but most thinking people know it's because WE said so at the voting booth. So now I see all kinds of crap flying through the blogs about what Obama "needs" to do to make it easier for HRC to exit gracefully. My reaction to that sentiment is...bullshit.
Right now he is holding all the cards and he will be holding more and even better cards after the 20th of May. So just what exactly does he "need" to do to help HRC get the flip out?
Some say pay off her campaign debt. Bullshit. She made the choices and ran up the bills, she and Bill are multi-millionaires. Let'em pay off their own debt. I don't see anyone coming around to pay off any debt I might have.
Some are saying he should at least offer her or someone she rec's the VP slot. Bullshit. IMHO not only does he not have to offer her or anyone she might rec the slot, he shouldn't. He needs to make his own choices based on what he and his staff percieve as the strongest possible running-mate. Not some kind of salve to the Clintons.
There are other suggestions floating around on what Obama "needs" to do but those two were the main ones I have seen. I understand the "need" to bring the party together and I also understand the "need" to reach out to Clinton supporters. Peace, love and hugs to everyone in the the Clinton camp.
But for HRC, nothing. She has run the worst campaign by a Democrat against another Democrat I have ever seen and never want to see again. In my mind unforgivable. She might, just might hang onto her senate seat.
Update: I have given twice to the Obama campaign and i agree, I DO NOT want any money I have given going to pay offer her debt. And I also agree, too much coddling has been going on with the Clintons. Good points by all.
