Hey everybody, I just wanna say right off the bat if you're looking for a diary with some hard-hitting substance - this isn't going to be your place.
I'm writing this diary because tomorrow evening I'll be hopping a flight from Providence, RI to Portland, OR to work for Barack Obama in that great state.
I'm a straight east-coast guy. That's not to say I'm not well-traveled (I am), but I've only been to the left coast twice (both times in the greater LA/San Diego region).
Furthermore, I've never been to the Pacific Northwest in my life. I'm simply reaching out to my fellow Kossacks for advice.
What I know for certain is that I'll be operating out of one of three Universities: Portland State, Oregon or Oregon State University. So that narrows my locations down to Portland, Eugene or Corvallis.
I know nothing of these areas and would love it if regional Kossacks would be so kind as to give me a sneak preview of what I can expect.
For instance:
What type of ethnic/local food should I pursue?
What type of beer should I try?
Are there any colloquialisms I should know of?
What areas in Portland/Eugene/Corvallis have the best nightlife?
I'm really excited about the prospect of being on the ground when this race officially ends, and I can't wait to meet all the Oregonian-Obama supporters!
Like I said, I know that this diary is pretty light, but I'm really interested.
Lay it on me folks, I want all things that are Oregon!
