How do you get rid of an established politician who is causing trouble? Our transatlantic friends revealed the solution as a Christmas present back in 2005, at the very end of the holiday episode of Doctor Who. In "The Christmas Invasion", with its killer Xmas trees and Santas with automatic weapons, the British Prime Minister poisoned the happy ending by killing the defeated aliens.
While Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh were no doubt cheering, the Doctor was very pissed off, and he told the politician he could destroy her with just six words. As he stormed off, he stopped to whisper those word to one of her political aides: "Don't you think she looks tired?". While the consequences of those words were not revealed until a later episode (when the PM had been replaced), those words revealed the effective way to deal with John McCain, as close to an evil alien as we have in this election.
Whenever you see an image of McCain in public, turn to the nearest person and say: "Don't you think he looks tired"? As this meme circulates, it will create an unmistakable feeling that McCain cannot handle the duties of the presidency. If each of us does this even once per day until the elections, we'll convince the whole country that he is unfit. There is no need to run nasty ads repeating all his mental lapses, just keep his blunders in circulation with the comment that McCain is tired.
It is especially important that our media whores keep repeating it. Every Dem on every talk show should say it at least once per appearance: "Don't you think he looks tired?".
More on the original episode here. I have always enjoyed the show's attitude toward politicians and burocrats, for example throwing tax collectors off the roof in The Sun Makers. Douglas Adams had a hand in many of the scripts, and it shows.
While our media whores compare our elections to American Idol and references comments made on The View (neither of which I've ever seen, or plan to) and Chris Matthews is fixated on his football metaphor, (thank Kos for this), our foreign friends inspire us with more apt analogies.
