You know Obama has run an amazing and well thought out campaign. The only big mistake he has made....
....was taking his name off the ballot in Michigan. I know I know what everyone is going to say, but he KNEW how close this was going to be and he KNEW every delegate was going to matter. What he should have done, and didn't do, is agree to take his name off the ballot if and only if every other candidate did the same.
Had he done that and she stayed on he may well have won Michigan and, even if he didn't, it certainly would have eliminated this as an issue. If neither were on the ballot of course it wouldn't be an issue at all.
Okay so hindsight is 20:20, but the point is he can't give up anything here on the issue of Michigan and Florida delegates that does not sign, seal and deliver him as the nominee. He played nice the first time around and look what it got him; it is clear that the Clintons have their own rules for things. All the compromises being floated about are good and well but she must step down: formally and publically, before I think he should agree to any of them. And I imagine all sorts of superD's are telling all sorts of things and giving all sorts of promises, but they must go public before he can agree to anything because they (the Clintons) have no shame here; they are willing to say one thing 6 months ago and an entirely different thing now.
She's had her 48 hours to recover from the losses and I for one am not encouraged by her or her campaign's behavior; if the superD's are there lets roll 'em out in volume. If they are not this party (ie the Democratic party) is more f'ed up than I could ever imagine to even consider walking away from the candidate with more votes, more delegates, more downstream benefits, and much more money....
