slinkerwink tossed this one out there and deserves whatever tips you want to give, but with everyone focused on McCain's "when the troops come home isn't important" crap this particular gaffe got lost in the shuffle.
On Friday during a campaign stop in Florida, McCain tried to paint himself as the 'green' candidate with the following:
Sen. Obama has no record of being involved in this issue that I know of. I will stick by my record and my commitment of many years to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Strong words, Senator. Strong, stupid words.
More below.
McCain's statement seems like normal campaign rhetoric on its face, but becomes dangerously close to evidence of senility when you consider that Senator Obama (along with Senator Lieberman) co-sponsored an emissions bill with him in early 2007.
Now, to be fair, McCain originally introduced a similar bill with Judas Joe as the only co-sponsor a couple of years previously. That bill died a lonely death on the floor though, and only got a second life thanks to Obama's support.
McCain wants to be president, and he can't even remember fundamental details of his own bills from sixteen months ago.
Yikes.
