Rasmussen released a poll this evening for Georgia showing only a slight uptick in Obama's numbers.
6/10 Likely voters (5/8 results)
McCain (R) 51 (53)
Obama (D) 41 (39)
Obama's troubles are found amongst men who disproportionately favor McCain (56 to 36) and trouble in rallying women to his side, who currently split evenly between the two (47 McCain to 46 Obama). Much of this breakdown is tied, as it was in the primaries for Obama, along generational lines. Among voters between the ages of 18 and 29 Obama leads McCain 60 to 36. However, among those over the age of 65 McCain leads Obama 57 to 31. If Obama is going to have any real chance at turning Georgia blue he will need to register a lot of new younger voters as well as the roughly 600,000 African Americans eligible voters in the state who are not registered to vote. It will take a lot of organizational effort on the ground but at least now everyone knows where we are and what needs to be done to turn it around.
