Former Virginia Governor Mark Warner has taken himself out of the mix as a possible running mate for Barack Obama.
He has accepted the Virginia Democratic party's nomination for U.S. Senate.
Warner made his announcement at the state Democratic Convention in Hampton today after accepting the nomination. Warner said he had "not sought" and would "not accept any other opportunity."
He had been among three Virginians frequently mentioned as potential running mates for Obama. The others are Senator Jim Webb and Warner's successor, Governor Tim Kaine.
Warner will be running against another former governor. Jim Gilmore is the Republican nominee. Warner and Gilmore hope to succeed Republican Senator John Warner.
For those of you that have lived or currently lives in Virginia, I seem to remember Mark Warner getting into trouble about having a noose or a confederate flag hanging in his office while he was governor. Does anyone (those living in Virginia) remember Mark Warner creating a controversy about that? Eventhough he is the most popular Democrat in Virginia, he probably realized that that would create a problem for Obama if he were the VP choice.(NO........I am not confusing him with George Allen)
Jim Webb would also create problems for Obama if he were the VP choice. Jim Webb is married to a Vietnamese immigrant. I think that would create a problem considering that it is his 3rd marriage and he just had another baby.
Tim Kaine would be the best choice of the three most popular democrats in Virginia. Kaine is a former missionary but he is NOT pro-choice, is he?
