I think this is news being reported by the NYT
FLINT, Mich. – Former Vice President Al Gore will appear in Detroit tonight for his debut campaign appearance with Senator Barack Obama, extending an endorsement and urging all Democrats to rally behind the party’s fall ticket.
"A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama," Mr. Gore said in an e-mail sent to his supporters. "From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States."
Throughout the long Democratic primary, Mr. Gore talked frequently to Mr. Obama. But tonight’s rally at the Joe Louis Arena in downtown Detroit marks the first time they will appear together on the same stage. The endorsement was announced – on Mr. Gore’s terms – to supporters on his vast e-mail list.
I'll add more but want to get this up
Gore sent out a fundraising plea to his supporters at algore.com. This should go a long way towards making June a 100 million dollar month! I think that Al Gore can have great appeal to the voter Obama needs to gain with in Ohio, Michigan, and Florida. There is no better way to emphasize the horrors of the Bush presidency then seeing the what could have been.
It's also funny to see how Obama gets to roll out these big endorsements and it's HUGE news! Who did McCain roll out? Romney, Nancy Reagan. Not exactly representations of exciting new future of the Republican party. Obama has lots of big endorsements/appearances to come: Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton to name a few. Those two appearances should be separate because each would mean different things to different people.
Yeah for Al Gore, starting the campaign week off right!
[Update x1]
A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama. From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States.
Over the next four years, we are going to face many difficult challenges -- including bringing our troops home from Iraq, fixing our economy, and solving the climate crisis. Barack Obama is clearly the candidate best able to solve these problems and bring change to America.
This moment and this election are too important to let pass without taking action.
That's why I am asking you to join me in showing your support by making a contribution to this campaign today:
Over the past 18 months, Barack Obama has united a movement. He knows change does not come from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue or Capitol Hill. It begins when people stand up and take action.
With the help of millions of supporters like you, Barack Obama will bring the change we so desperately need in order to solve our country's most pressing problems.
If you've already contributed to this campaign, I ask that you consider making another contribution right now. If you haven't, please take the next step and own a piece of this campaign today:

On the issues that matter most, Barack Obama is clearly the right choice to lead our nation.
We have a lot of work to do in the next few months to elect Barack Obama president, and it begins by making a contribution to this campaign today.
Thank you for joining me,
Al Gore
Lordy! Haven't we been waiting to hear those words for a loooooonnng time! It's really nice after all that time in the wilderness for Obama to get all the Democratic party leader support that he deserved months ago! But in the end Gore was wise to wait, if he had endorsed before Hillary conceded, it would have given deadenders one more piece of evidence that Hillary was cheated. So good move on Al's part.
Someone mentioned in the comments that Michigan is getting ALL the good endorsement rallies! Sounds like this is one state that Obama wants to guarantee is in his winning coalition. But I think they should save something for Ohio!!
We all consider Al Gore a leader in our party and he's asking for some green. Not only be green but give green so our planet can stay green.
Give Green
[Updatex2]
Speaking of the environment, McBush is confused again:
Also from John McCain's press conference this morning, the senator from Arizona once again makes it clear that he doesn't really understand cap-and-trade:
QUESTION: The European Union has set mandatory targets on renewable energy. Is that something you would consider in a McCain administration? [...]
MCCAIN: Sure. I believe in the cap-and-trade system, as you know. I would not at this time make those -- impose a mandatory cap at this time. But I do believe that we have to establish targets for reductions of greenhouse gas emissions over time, and I think those can be met.
Which is, of course, completely out of line with his own proposal for a cap-and-trade scheme, both the plan he once proposed with Joe Lieberman and his own presidential plan. They both would, by nature, be mandatory -- hence the "cap" in the name.
This deserves it's own diary...
