That is what Jim Gilmore says on his Senate Campaign's Official Blog. Just more of the same drivel he keeps spouting that has no basis whatsoever in fact.
From the U.S. Geological Surveys own reports, any oil from offshore drilling would be decades away from impacting the consumer market. I ask you....does this "Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less." mentality make sense to you?
Gilmore, along with other Republicans including Rep. Virgil H. Goode also of Virginia think drilling in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge is another great idea.
Once again they ignore the U.S.G.S. and it's assessment of drilling in ANWR. In their report they estimate there is a mean total of 7.7 billion barrels of extractable oil in ANWR. The catch? Yes, there is a catch. It is tainted with sulfur and paraffin and would cost approximately 3 times normal to refine into usable petroleum products! and again a minimum of 10 years to reach the market.
Maybe it's time for us to send Gilmore and Goode into retirement since neither one seems to be able to grasp the truth.
