There is only one candidate in the race to replace Saxby Chambliss that stands for true Progressive Populism.
There is only one candidate that that has taken a strong stand in the fight for economic justice and fair trade.
There is only one candidate that has the environmental background needed to solve our current climate crisis.
That candidate is Rand Knight, and he is running to replace Saxby Chambliss.
Here's why Rand Knight, out of all the other GA senate candidates, is the truest Progressive Populist. Below most of the listed reasons are quotes from Rand Knight's website.
- He's been endorsed by the AFL-CIO
- He's been an outspoken fighter for the middle-class:
"Unfair trade deals like NAFTA and organizations like the WTO- combined with Saxby Chambliss fighting against the rights of workers to unionize- all combine to equal the oppression of the middle class.
I will work with Democrats in Congress to roll back Bush's tax breaks for the wealthy--so that the richest 1 percent of Americans (with yearly incomes averaging $1.3 million) will not pocket $300 billion over the next four years.
Tax burdens on the middle class can be eased if the wealthy pay their share.
I support FAIR TRADE that protects workers' rights and the environment, while opposing wage-reducing "free trade" agreements that protect only corporate rights to globally exploit unprotected labor.
When I am in the U.S. Senate, I will fight to block renewal of "fast track" authority, which allows the White House to enact trade deals without Congressional amendment. "
- He is a true friend of Labor:
"• When I am elected to the U.S. Senate, I will stand in unwavering solidarity with Labor to strengthen and defend worker’s rights to organize and bargain collectively.
• I will demand economic freedom for Georgia’s working families when I support a further increase in the Federal Minimum Wage to achieve a Realistic Living Wage.
• I will fight against the Republican anti-labor agenda by standing with Labor on the issues of Banning Striker Replacement, Davis-Bacon, Safety Standards, and Fair Trade."
- He has been a vocal opponent of the Iraq War:
"Our involvement in the Iraq war needs to come to a close. While it is true that we may have improved the lives of many Iraqis, we never specified a desired outcome or specific criteria for determining the success of the mission. In fact, President Bush determined "Mission Accomplished" on the first of May, five years ago, yet we have more troops deployed in Iraq now than we did then. All we have to evaluate our progress is the overwhelming will of the people- both Americans and Iraqis- and the will of the people says to bring the troops home soon- safely, sensibly and with honor.
We cannot allow ourselves to be fooled by politicians who think success can be defined by a death toll number. A peaceful solution is not established through war, but established through politics. We’ve been purchasing equipment, armor and supplies with U.S. dollars and giving them to the Iraqi army instead of our troops. If we replace our troops with International Peacekeeping Forces, not only will they be more safely equipped, they are also equipped to aid in developing political solutions."
- He has a plan to combat global warming, end our oil addiction, and boost our economy at the same time. This plan is known as "The Green Deal".
