Democratic senate candidate Mark Udall has extended his lead over GOP rival Bob Schaffer, and now has a 49%-40% lead, according to polling firm Rasmussen Reports.
In its latest monthly poll, Rasmussen found that Udall now has a 16% edge among women voters, and also dominates independent voters 51% to 30%. The two candidates are roughly tied among male voters, and each has the support of 84% of voters from his own party.
This is the third straight 3-point increase for Udall in the Rasmussen surveys.
Udall's favorability ratings also continue to climb, with 56% of those polled giving him good marks (with 26% strongly favorable), compared to only 35% having unfavorable views. This is in stark contrast to Schaffer, whose numbers are 47% favorable, 45% unfavorable, a slight decrease from last month. 23% gave a "very unfavorable" mark.
