George Bush's pep talk, inspiring, no? This came in the days following the killing and burning of contractors that lead to some of the nastiest fighting of the war in Fallujah.
Another week, another former Administration tell-all, this time from the former commander in Iraq, General Ricardo Sanchez.
"Kick ass!" he quotes the president as saying. "If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can't send that message. It's an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal."
Will this tell-all be covered with the same breathlessness of last week's McClellan coverage? Perhaps not. Perhaps it was already known that General Sanchez felt this way. There will be no media guilt as shown by David "Dickie" Gregory who-me?? defensive reaction.
General Sanchez is not pulling any punches:
Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez, the onetime commander of U.S. troops in Iraq, who is scathing in his assessment that the Bush administration "led America into a strategic blunder of historic proportions."
A strategic blunder of historic proportions. But I'm sure the General in charge of our forces in Iraq was out of the loop, yah? Can't say that with a straight face, but you just know that Dana Perino, when she's done saying that the White House has "no comment" will say something to the effect.
This stuff is just priceless:
"There is a series of moments and this is one of them. Our will is being tested, but we are resolute. We have a better way. Stay strong! Stay the course! Kill them! Be confident! Prevail! We are going to wipe them out! We are not blinking!"
