Although Obama will need as many votes as possible to win in the Fall, it is dangerous to allow the Clinton campaign to use blatant racism, (Puerto Rican primary talking points) phony "voting result" math, and bogus charges of "sexism" without a very strong condemnation from Democrats.
The media will not call the Clintons on this because the media never questions anything. It is up to Democrats to shut this kind of talk down by calling it what it is: BULLSHIT!
It will become a grave mistake to avoid criticizing the Clintonoids over their comments in the mistaken belief it will alienate Clinton supporters. The problem is, if unity-minded Democrats don't respond, the Clinton talking points will remain embedded within the collective consciousness of not only the media and undecided voters, but also with low-info Democrats. These voters should now be turning their support towards Obama, but aren't doing so precisely because of Clinton's bullshit. They are confused, bewildered and they aren't seeing anything coming from Obama's camp which eases their fears.
Just over the past 24 hours we have seen Terry McAuliffe warning everybody about Obama's "huge problem" with Hispanics; another Clinton "supporter", some jackass named Paul Rodriguez said on Geraldo Rivera's show Sunday night(on FoKKKs News, of course) that all Hispanic and African-Americans hate each other and then made the unbelievable remark that HRC's assassination comments were OK because if Obama wasn't killed, we'd "end up with Flava-Flav for Vice-President!" (This crack went by almost unnoticed, because someone else was talking on air simultaneously; I was unable to find a YouTube link of the interview). This was not just some asshole off the street; this guy was on international TV, represented as a high-profile Clinton supporter who is well known among the Hispanic community.
Calling on the Clinton media surrogates for these kinds of revolting comments does not - I repeat - does not "alienate" rank and file Clinton supporters. On the contrary, the failure of Democrats to not only debunk this Clintonoid bullshit and also discredit her campaign for these tactics only allows their racist bullshit to remain "out there" with her supporters as part of acceptable Party discourse. It merely gives Clinton supporters ongoing reasons to fight Party unification under a doubtful Obama candidacy and thus all but guarantee Republican victory.
Yes, we need as many of Clinton's former supporters' votes as possible for November. But many will not join Obama unless the Clinton Campaign talking points which sustain them are thoroughly destroyed. There is no guarantee Hillary Clinton will lift a finger - even a cold, dead one - to help the Democratic nominee, so we must start taking matters into our own hands. I trust the vast majority of her supporters will vote for Obama, but this election will almost certainly come down to a small handful of votes, again, and if Clinton and her staff aren't loudly discredited for their blatantly disgusting behavior, we may not get many of her supporters to abandon her selfish crusade. We can appeal to their sense of dignity by making it clear Clinton has thrown her dignity out the window.
Failure to shut this crap down immediately after Tues-Wed will also feed into the myth of "liberal wimpiness" if Obama and his surrogates don't shut these assholes up.
Rank and File Clinton supporters are almost all loyal Democrats and will vote Obama in November, but if something isn't done to shut down the disgusting 1% of her supporters and the members of her staff who continue to flog the dead horse of Obama's "illegitamacy", many voters will have lingering doubts.
