I have been a Neil Young fan since i was 12 years old and first heard After the Gold Rush. Probably the greatest birthday gift my husband ever gave me were those third row center seats for a CSNY reunion tour -thanks honey! It has never ceased to amaze me that each and every album has been terrific and how Neil has always had the best interests of ours at heart.
Whether he was trying to get our attention about Vietnam (Ohio), trying to get our attention about George Bush, yes Neil, you're right, "Let's Impeach the President", or just doing something about the environment:
Touring
The rock 'n' roll veteran helped pioneer the now-popular practice of fueling tour buses with biodiesel. When promoting his 2004 film and album, both titled 'Greendale,' Young traveled with a caravan of 17 diesel vehicles, all of which ran on a mixture of soybean and vegetable oil. The biodiesel fuel emits about 75 percent less pollution than regular diesel fuel. Others who've followed in Young's Earth-friendly footsteps with their own biodiesel-fueled tours include KT Tunstall, the Indigo Girls and Keith Urban, just to name a few.

he has always seemed to me to be ahead of the curve. Well now today I see, on CNN of all places, that he has teamed up with a mechanic in Kansas to turn his 1959 convertible into an electric car. The link is here:

and the gist of the article is here.
Young has teamed up with Johnathan Goodwin, a Wichita mechanic who has developed a national reputation for re-engineering the power units of big cars to get more horsepower but use less fuel.
The two are looking to convert Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental convertible to operate on an electric battery.
Ultimately, they said, they want the Continental to provide a model for the world's first affordable mass-produced electric-powered automobile
So let's give it up for Neil. I sure hope it works. And I hope the car companies will follow (well, I can at least HOPE anyway!)
All in all it's been a good day folks. Obama is poised and ready to go, and Neil is looking out for us. And I know that he's probably working on yet again another fabulous album. And that (and an Obama presidency) ought to get me through the next couple of years. How about you?
"My My Hey Hey! Rock and roll is here to stay."
