If there's one lesson I learned from Saturday's burlesque show known as the RBC it's that the Clinton era is over. Yet, former President Bill Clinton will not go away without kicking and screaming like a spoiled little brat. It's quite sad to see a once dignified figure like Bill Clinton transform into an individual so incapable of passing the torch to a new generation with grace.
Then again I don't we could mistake the Clintons for having any grace.
And, if there's one lesson I really learned from this historic election season, it's that the Clintons are really about themselves and not the people they claim to represent. That's why I was really suspicious when Hillary touted her so-called "experience." I'm thinking to myself, "what experience?" Oh, what I forgot, you mean the Clinton experience. My bad. Her campaign on experience was code for saying that it would only take a Clinton to clean up the mess that George W. Bush made during his run as the Worst President in United States history. Her claims were of one running on a sense of entitlement. We've seen what can happen to our country when one who's been skating through life on the coattails of a family memeber has been given the opportunity to lead us. Hillary Clinton allow me to introduce you to George W. Bush.
I expect a former President to conduct himself in a respectable manner. I expect a former President to unite the party he represents in a dignified manner. But Bill Clinton has shown that he can't do neither of those things. Whatever reason to be given for Bill Clinton's outlandish display during this historic campaign, one thing is for certain. He has done considerable damage to his legacy and biography. He has shown that it's not about the people he and his wife claim to represent, but it's more about preserving a dynasty.
The actions of President Clinton today were just astounding.
In a response to a recent Vanity Fair article by Todd Purdum, Clinton angrily denounced the article and it's author by unleashing a series of epithets that would've made Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen proud. Clinton referrred to Purdum as "slimy," "dishonest," "sleazy," and a "scumbag." Later the 42nd President of the United States apologized for the tirade.
It's quite pitiful to see a man with such superior intellect conduct himself like a two-year-old. It gives one the impression that Bill Clinton is not ready to fade from the public view nor give up his role as the face of the Democratic Party. And, at a time when the country is craving for much needed change we need an individual like Bill Clinton to be a guiding force for Barack Obama and the new generation he hopes to lead. But instead Bill Clinton is more content at subverting Obama's cause in order to have one more turn in the spotlight.
If Bill Clinton still wants to be a force in this country he must conduct himself in a more distinguished manner. Otherwise, he must do us all a favor and exit the stage before he turns into sad and pathetic parody like his wife.
