It's a meme we've heard for so long...the weakness of our party on issues of defense. We're 'capitulators,' as our President would say. Weak-kneed. Soft Sallys. Roll over Beethoven. Go on, say it. You have some snarky two-word combo that perhaps rhymes to describe their behavior. Lofty softies? Elities with no wheaties? Pliable unreliables?
But....it's true.
We are weak on defense.
Forget Iraq. Forget Iran. Forget our imminent invasion of Bulgaria or Bora Bora. (Bush: "Heh. It's two four letter words. We've gotta smite 'em before they defile us. Heh. De-file. Heh Heh.")
No. We're not talking about being weak on matters of international security, so to speak. Hell, I think we all agree that the current administration has demonstrated an amazing capacity to destroy the combined US armed forces as well as any diplomatic opportunities in that particular venue.
The Democrats have proven to be the weak party when it comes to defense of the most important element of our great nation.
Hint: It begins with "We the people of the United States..."
And nearly all of the Dems don't believe we should defend it any longer. Against foes internal or external. They believe it is editable. Like a Word document. They believe we can photoshop it.
And worst of all....they not only believe we should let others edit the document and the protections it affords us, but they have sat down at the same table with such people - sipping some Starbucks while they waited for WinWord to load - and said: "Hey, let's just add a few caveats. You know, take away a few of those pesky things in the addendum document...whatcha call it? Yeah, that's right. The Billo Rights."
And they know the have us over the barrel. What are we gonna do? Withhold votes? Withhold money? Vote for....
Yeah right. Fuck that.
We're gonna sit here and whine about blue dogs and green cats and our dipshit leadership. And we'll be good little boys and girls and go to the polls in the hopes of a better tomorrow. No repurcussions for them. No more rights for us.
Ah, I fuckin' hate Wednesdays.
I'm out.
