Watching Obama spokesperson Robert Gibbs on MSNBC this morning get backed into a corner by the Morning Joe crew was disheartening (to say the least).
I have some unsolicited advice for him below.
Dear Mr. Gibbs:
Every time you get a question about foreign/defense policy - TALK ABOUT IRAQ.
80 percent of the American electorate thinks it was a mistake to go into Iraq. John McCain supported that decision and continues to support that decision.
DON'T LET THE MEDIA SCARE YOU MR. GIBBS.
Don't let them push you into making this about Wes Clark. It's not about Wes Clark.
You should say each and every time: "Yes, McCain is a hero and has courage and tenacity, but he was wrong about Iraq and has shown POOR JUDGMENT on foreign policy.
That's all you have to say Mr. Gibbs. And keep saying it ad infinitum.
You can make two points at the same time: (1) McCain is brave, and (2) He's wrong on foreign policy.
Don't sit on your 5 point national lead Mr. Gibbs. It's only June, and you've got a long way to go.
