- They said he was too soft (WRONG)
- They said he could not face the Republican Attack Machine (WRONG)
- They called him "Obambi"
Well Obambi just pulled one on us all. I thought Clark was right about attacking McCain but I felt it came across badly when he mention McCain getting "shot down" in criticizing him. It's a small thing but I think that made the difference in the way the media saw the statement.
So I was sitting here all day wondering if this was a blunder of if it was a successful planned all along by the Obama campaign. We knew the MSM would squeal a little. We figured Clark might get thrown under the bus. But I felt the answer would come if we heard the MSM say something like "Man this was an outrageous statement. But is McCain's military service worth examining".
Well the answer came in the form of Jack Cafferty. His cafferty file question "Cafferty: McCain’s military credentials overrated?".
I tell you I was relieved to see this. This means it pierced the MSM narrative. It gave some left leaners in the MSM and excuse. And I think it is now fair game to ask how McCain performed, did he really do propoganda tapes, what was his leadership role etc. Obambi if you planned this one I will have to start calling you "ORambo".
Well done and thank you Wes for being a sacrificial Lamb
UPDATE:
just wanted to respond to a couple of comments. I take no pleasure in disparaging McCain's military record. There is a great level of reverence that is due to any military service, no question about that. But to just make the whole thing out of bounds for a presidential candidate running on that platform is to unnecessarily restrict. Wesley Clark, Colin Powell and others are considered qualified presidential candidates, not because they served in the military, but because their service in years, rank, situations and performance make it so.
I think we should be very careful on this, but not be so scared of asking questions. We are acting like the MSM after 9-11. No one is suggesting demonize McCain for making propaganda tapes under torture. That would be unfair. The problem is that the making of those tapes are not presented to the public in a fair light. It is squashed as the third rail of his candidacy.
And anyway, the tapes were not the main point of my diary to begin with. I am much more concerned with questions of his level of service and what kind of leadership it represented. His military credentials are presented to the public as someone akin to Colin Powell who oversaw Desert Storm. Since we know that is not the case then there is nothing wrong with bringing the truth of that fact to light.
