Anyone remember this from in December, 2006?
Anyone?
It was a throw-away comment in a rather wild frontpage story.
Check it out...
It was called "2008: If Obama runs, he wins"
The comments? Less than forgiving.
Obama will not be your next president. However he has a better chance in 2016 if he runs a VP.
Obama will flirt with the nomination for a year or so just to soak up the media attention, then we can start looking at the real candidates.
There is no way Obama wins, this is all traditional media bull to increase ratings or at least keep them from dropping.
It's sad to see DailyKos stooping to this level.
It was a post of pure speculation that, obviously, people didn't appreciate. kos, say it again:
There's one thing that could put a skid on Obama's fast rise -- an Al Gore entrance into the race. Other than that, I don't see a way anyone stops him.
...
What's more, Obama would then be tough to beat in the general. He would very well be the favorite in that race, even against a McCain, and would probably be a net positive for Democrats running down the ballot. So it wouldn't be a terrible thing by any means.
When you consider how far out from any caucus or election this post was written, it is notable the accuracy of kos' overall analysis.
kos, if you read this, I'll take a preorder of your next book please. It would go well with the autographed (complete with message, but you had a comical writing malfunction mid-way thru) Crashing the Gate, and I'd like a sneak preview of the politics forthcoming in 2009/2010.
