I published a diary yesterday in which I acknowledged my respect for Senator Clinton.
I also attempted to explain why I would never be able to trust her.I cautioned Obama supporters it would be counter-productive to put too much stock in her conciliatory concession speech Saturday.
The outrage my dairy touched off was surprising to me. I reflected on the reasons. I am definitely not sexist as my three incredible daughters and 16 grandchilren will attest. So what was it?
Well,I picked up my Sunday New York Times newspaper this morning and received my answers.

Both columnists are Pultizer Prize winning veteran newspersons. While admittedly they are both liberal thinkers, the similarity in their opinons expressed today is truly amazing. Boy do I feel better.
I will try to summarize without violating copyright laws:
- There is a "war" being waged this election season between 50% of the U.S. as symbolized by the McCain/Clinton alliance and the other 50% by the Barack Obama "movement." This war could also be seen as a war between the past and the future. It is not a war between sexes or races.
- There were 3 speeches delivered Tuesday evening. McCain and Clinton referred to themselves over 60 times each and Barack Obama referred to himself only 30 times. In effect we have an "I" ticket running against a "We" ticket. Neither McCain or Clinton acknowledged the fact that an African-American for the first in our history would be the Nominee of major poilitical party.
- Clinton did succeed in rallying her 18 million supporters but because she herself has said repeatedly for one solid year that Obama is "not electable" her present remarks ring hollow. She may have also stirred up a tremendous backlash of millions of misogynists. I dispise women haters but I know they exist. I feel powerful women should always stand up against the but it does no good to goad them.
- Obama is a Liberal but not of the old style. His is a liberalism of inclusiveness; a post partisan Liberal,he can appreciate that Reagan was a successful President. This extends to the new Foreign Policy he will practice. Most of the country agrees he should meet with leaders of foreign countries, both friends and enemies. I agree and can't wait to see the reception he gets on his pre-election visits.
- Finally ,once and for all, I agree we must unite(while keeping a wary eye on this woman who is described today in the columns linked to, as a great "thespian" on a par with Streep; a candidate who transmogrified from Empress into Rosie the Riveter overnight.
