I am one of the few people who believes that, with the exception of Rudy Giuliani, John McCain was the weakest candidate that the Republicans could have nominate. Take away McCain's service and fawning press coverage and what do you have?
(1) A candidate who can't run a national campaign without imploding a couple of times. (2) A candidate who can't wrap his head around economic issues in terms bigger than - 'lower taxes' and 'less spending'. (3) A candidate who can't deliver a speech without looking like a doddering old fool. (4) A candidate who has strapped himself to the one issue that has dragged his party's brand into the toilet.
So why is McCain riding high in the polls and have a decent shot of landing in the White House? Well, the same douchbags who gave us the war in Iraq are doing everything they can to give this country another quagmire. Since the press 'knows' what McCain really believes, they feel no need to actually report on the disconnect between McCain's words and his voting record. Or his words, and well, his words. They have, and will, allow McCain to lie with impunity. Because they 'know' who John McCain really is, reality be damned.

Prime Time Lie #1:
From a 2005 WSJ Op-Ed column....
He is refreshingly blunt when he tell me: "I'm going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated."
But wait....
Prime Time Lie #2:
Poor stupid local reporter. Does she not 'know' what McCain really meant? McCain meant that these votes (109_01_229 and 109_2_006) in the Senate didn't really represent his intent.
Prime Time Lie #3:
John Cole thought he caught another whopper (link).
Reality seemed to back up John Cole...
... but I'm waiting to find out from the Kool Kidz what McCain really meant.
Beating McCain is the easy part. Beating the media? That's a whole other ballgame. Obama's opponent is the media. The opponents of real change are the media. They got us into Iraq and they are trying to finish the job and destroy this country. Don't let it happen!
