In recent days, Presumptive Nominee Barack Obama has pivoted his entire campaign into general election mode. He is hiring new staff members, dispatching ground crews to important states, and preparing a television ad campaign to acquaint millions of Americans with his views and biography. By implementing these changes Mr. Obama’s campaign strategy has been effectively transformed into a fine-tuned general election machine.
Here's a summary of the changes to the Obama campaign follows.
Dan Carroll, the ruthless opposition researcher who gained fame digging up information on opponents' records for Bill Clinton in 1992, has been hired to head up Obama’s opposition research. Mr. Carroll’s hire signifies Obama’s efforts to prepare himself and his surrogates for the anticipated attack machine the Republicans are well known for. It is a clear sign that Mr. Obama is prepared to respond quickly with the dirt on his Republican opponent John McCain as needed.
Senior operatives from past Democratic Presidential campaigns will be working with Michelle Obama, with the primary purpose of responding to Republican attacks against Mrs. Obama.
Patti Solis Doyle, a longtime associate of Hillary Clinton will be hired by the Obama campaign. Her responsibilities with the campaign are not available at this time.
Aaron Pickrell, the chief political strategist of Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio and the man who helped steer Hillary Clinton to victory in that state's primary against Obama has been hired to head up his Ohio operations. New York Times
